New Rural Telecom Working Group

Reposted from The Telecompetitor

The rural telecom industry seems to have caught the attention of legislators. Yesterday two members of the House of Representatives announced the formation of a bipartisan working group of the Energy and Commerce Committee that will work to “promote rural telecommunication issues within the Committee.”

The announcement comes just a week after the U.S. Senate held a hearing to discuss rural telecommunications issues.

The founders and co-chairs of the new bipartisan rural telecom working group are Rep. Peter Welch (D-Vt.) and Rep. Bob Latta (R-Ohio). The group will have a total of 18 members, split evenly between Democrats and Republicans.
